ABSTRACT SUBMISSION INFORMATION

Abstract Submission

Deadline for receipt of abstracts: Tuesday, April 4, 2006.

All abstracts must be submitted electronically via the World Wide Web. The abstract submission site is now open.

You are invited to submit abstracts for either poster or platform presentation. Abstracts should contain only new and unpublished material, and should only be submitted if at least one author plans to attend the meeting and present the work in either a poster or platform session. It is the custom to have only one platform presentation per lab, preferably from a graduate student or postdoc and not from the lab head.

Abstracts will appear on the Web and in the Program and Abstracts Volume exactly as submitted, i.e., no corrections, additions, revisions or deletions will be made by the GSA staff. Revisions and corrections may be made only by the author via the Web abstract submission program no later than the April 5 revision deadline. Please proof your text carefully before submitting.

Because platform presentation requests far exceed platform presentations slots, authors should be prepared to present a poster if their abstract is not selected for a platform presentation.

To submit an abstract, follow the instructions for Web submission. Submissions must be completed before midnight, U.S. East Coast time, on Tuesday, April 4, 2006.

A confirmation of abstract receipt will appear on screen immediately after a successful submission. Confirmation will include an abstract control number, an author ID number for future reference, and text of the abstract (for specifics, consult the Web instructions).

In late May, authors will be sent an e-mail reminder to check the meeting Web site for platform and poster assignments.

Author Presentation Notification

Platform and poster notification assignments will be posted at the Yeast Meeting Web site on or around Thursday, June 8, 2006. Near the posting date authors will be sent an e-mail reminder to check the site for platform and poster presentation assignments.

Abstract Search and Program Planner

The Meeting Abstract Search and Program Planner, available at the GSA Yeast Meeting Web site on or about June 20, 2006, enables the user to search (by keyword, author, and abstract title), view and print all abstracts. The program will also permit the user to select abstracts of interest to create a day-by-day, session-by-session personal Meeting itinerary. Please direct any questions about this program to Krista Koziol, GSA publications manager.

Program and Abstracts Volume

The Program and Abstracts Volume will be provided to registrants at the meeting and is included in the registration fee. Additional copies will be available on site for $15.

Poster Sessions and Boards

The majority of submitted abstracts will be scheduled as posters. There will be three poster sessions. The poster boards will be 4 feet (121.92 cm) high x 6 feet (182.88 cm) wide. There will be two posters on each board. Each poster will have a space 3’8" (111.76 cm) high x 2’10" (86.36 cm) wide. All poster sessions will take place in the evening.

Equipment for Oral Presentations

The following equipment will be provided in all plenary sessions: a PC and Mac computer loaded with PowerPoint, an LCD projector, laser pointer and lavalier microphone. Please have your presentation stored on a CD, zip disc or memory stick. Presenters should plan to be in McCarter Theater 60 minutes prior to the start of their session. Equipment for 35mm slides will not be provided at this meeting.

The Genetics Society of America Poster Awards

The Genetics Society of America is sponsoring awards for posters that will be presented at the meeting. An Award Committee will attend the evening poster sessions and pick the nine best poster presentations. The winners will be announced in the general session on Sunday, July 30. The following prizes will be awarded: 1st place - $400, 2nd place - $300, 3rd place - $200, 4th place - $100. Five honorable mentions will receive meeting t-shirts.
